Take-Two has canceled several unannounced games and quietly delayed others amid what the publisher calls a “challenging consumer backdrop.”

Take-Two made the announcement during today’s earnings report, saying that “the development timelines of some of our titles have lengthened, especially as we strive to redefine the creative standards of excellence in our industry, which affect our release slate for the year.”

Take-Two will incur a $54.2 million impairment charge in the fourth quarter “related to capitalized software development costs for unreleased and canceled console and PC titles.

New episodes will arrive every other week

Telltale Games is premiering the first episode of The Expanse: A Telltale Series this summer. The first installment will go live on July 27, with more episodes to follow in the weeks after.

The Expanse series will be episodic, with five episodes in total. After the first drops on July 27, each episode will follow two weeks after each other, putting the targeted end date in September.

Occidental Design was the horrifically disfigured lovechild of Baer Sternmidden and William S. Fushnell, who were behind such controversial classics as Rip ‘n’ Tear, Xordian Knot, and Hellbombers.

Sega Is Considering a Price Increase to $70 in Line With Nintendo, Ubisoft, and Other Publishers

Sega is considering following in the footsteps of Nintendo, Ubisoft, and other publishers and start charging $70 for future titles.

During a financial earnings call held towards the end of April (the translated transcript of which was spotted by VGC yesterday), Sega Sammy CEO Haruki Satomi and CFO Koichi Fukuzawa alluded to the idea of increasing the price of Sega’s upcoming titles when asked why the unit sales price is set higher than usual for the upcoming fiscal year.

“In the global marketplace, AAA game titles for console have been sold at $59.99 for many years, but titles sold at $69.99 have appeared in the last year,” they said.

Telltale’s The Expanse Episode 1 Arrives This July

Telltale Games announced that The Expanse: A Telltale Series Episode One will launch on July 27 for PC via Epic Games Store, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

The game is set prior to the events of The Expanse TV show and players assume the role of Camina Drummer as she and her scavenger crew explore the asteroid belt called The Belt aboard The Artemis ship. She will encounter pirates, face mutinies, and scavenge wrecked ships in a zero-g environment. From the TV show, actress Cara Gee reprises her role as Drummer in the game.

EA Sports College Football Will Pay Players to Use Their Likeness

EA Sports has announced that its collegiate title, EA Sports College Football, will pay players for lend their likenesses to the game if they opt-in to do so.

According to a report from ESPN, the publisher is collaborating with OneTeam Partners, a firm that also works with the NFL and MLS Players Associations, to “facilitate collegiate athletes’ names and likenesses” into the game, which is set to debut next summer. The offer is extended to all eligible players within the Division 1 Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS).

Players who agree to have their name, image, and likeness (NIL) featured in EA Sports College Football will receive compensation for it.
