Talk about a jetpack joyride

The Entertainment Software Rating Board, or ESRB, has released its rating for Bethesda’s upcoming sci-fi RPG Starfield. There’s little surprise that it garnered an M for Mature rating, but it’s the details of this rating that have been fun to read about today.

As part of its rating process, the ESRB lays out both its letter grading and reasoning.

Thirty-one years ago, The Legend of Zelda became the first video game I ever beat. A year later, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link became the first video game I ever quit.

This is technically patch number four

Jedi Survivor is still trucking along, and now we’re already on patch 4 in just a few scant weeks. Modern game development, ho! This latest patch is due out today on consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X), and “as soon as possible” on PC.

So what does it deal with? Bugs, mainly! This isn’t a content patch, as it’s meant to smooth over some of the rougher edges on all platforms.

Break out your timelines

The newest Legend of Zelda tale is days away, and given the trailers we’ve seen so far, there are still many mysteries to uncover. A new interview with some of the leads behind The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom helps give us an idea of what’s to come, and teases a link to the series’ past too.

Swords will clash

Some major gaming franchises have incredible fighting games attached to them. Pokemon has Pokken, Persona has Persona 4 Arena, and Final Fantasy has the fast-paced Dissidia series. It’s about time that The Legend of Zelda gets the same treatment after multiple decades of successful games. Here’s why a Legend of Zelda fighting game would work so well.

Not just a novelty

Bitwave Games has announced that Gimmick! Special Edition will be coming to PC and console on July 6, 2023.

Initially released by Sunsoft in Japan in 1992, followed by a very limited release in PAL regions as Mr. Gimmick in 1993, Gimmick! is a game cherished by NES fans who are in the know. The PAL version is among the most expensive NES cartridges on the system and isn’t cheap on the Famicom either. As such, a modern port has been a long time coming.

Something wicked this way comes — And while many would attempt to block her path, pointing to an increasingly large roster, already bolstered with the addition of seasonal DLC characters and free-to-download bosses, there is no escaping fate, no escaping destiny, no escaping the fact that Sylvie Paula Paula is stepping back into the ring in King of Fighters XV, and is doing so in just seven short days.

An elephant never forgets

Armor Games Studios has announced that they’re bringing a collection of John Cooney’s Flash games back in The Elephant Collection.

Do you remember Flash games? I don’t, but a lifetime of self-inflicted concussions will do that to you. For those like myself who only house a big blank space, Flash was an animation platform that some internet denizens would twist to make games.
